Bethel’s Alcohol Task Force is convening for the first time since the AC Quickstop liquor store shut down and effectively ended legal hard liquor sales in Bethel. The Task Force is meeting on Tuesday, June 19 at 6 p.m. at Bethel City Hall.

Members of the Task Force encompass a broad representation of community leaders from non-profits, law enforcement, emergency services, health care, business, and tribal organizations. In previous meetings, Task Force members reported on the climbing rates of emergencies and violence associated with alcohol.

With legal hard liquor sales currently halted, except via freight, anecdotal evidence from the agencies shows a sharp downturn in these issues. Some data behind these anecdotes is expected to be presented at the public meeting on Tuesday.
